Remedy

The remedy is to make the network triconnected, by introducing additional active curves that run through the middle of the split pair. If the user does not want this to result in additional patches, enable the split points display for the curve, and make the entire curve region inactive (see Using Split Points), as shown in Figure 3:129 below.

Figure 3:129. This network could be made triconnected by the addition of the black curve, which introduces a third intersection point. This curve region need not be active.

This works because all regions of an active curve are used when defining the initial topology - the inactive regions are removed later on.
