Route Points can be used to constrain the route of a cable, these route points are points through which the cable must pass. The route points are defined when the cableway branch is created and/or modified through which a cable will pass.

  1. From the Tasks part of the Modify Cable window, select Define Route Through PRPs to display the Route Through PRPs window. The PRPs will be automatically populated from the selected cableway and PRPs.

  2. If a route has not been defined for the cable, then a list of suitable routing branch will be displayed. Select a route point from Select Preliminary Route Points from Cwbranch list.

If a route has been defined then the chosen PRPs will be displayed in the List of Preliminary Route Points list.

Routing Through PRPs

From the Routing Through PRPs part of the Route Through PRPs window, you can select the PRPs to route the cable on the branch.

  1. Pick Routing Branch populates the Select Preliminary Route Points from Cwbranch list with route points contained within the picked branch. Right-click on one of the points in the list to provide the option to open the List of Associated Cables window (refer to List of cable), which will show other cables that have been routed through the same point.

Once a suitable point has been selected it can be added to the List of Preliminary Route Points using one of three methods:

Inserts the selected point above the PRP selected in the List of Preliminary Route Points.

Inserts the selected point below the PRP selected in the List of Preliminary Route Points.

Inserts the selected point at the bottom of the List of Preliminary Route Points.

Items in the List of Preliminary Route Points can be organized using the arrow functions to the left of the list:

Moves PRP to the top of the list.

    Moves PRP up one row.

Removes the PRP from the list.

Moves the PRP from the list.

Moves the PRP to the bottom of the list.

  2. Right-click on an item in the List of Preliminary Route Points to display options for you to organize the list and to open the List of Associated Cables window.

    Label All PRPs

Add labels for all PRPs to the graphical view.

    Remove All Labels

Removes all PRP related labels from the graphical view.

    Routing Options

The Define Specific Cableway Zones fold-up list allows you to choose which cableway zones will be used to route the cable. If no zones are defined, then cableway from all zones found in WORLD will be used to route the cable (for large projects, this will take a long time).

Right-click on a zone in the list to give the option to Navigate To the zone in the Design Explorer. If required, you can select Reload Zones/Deselect All.

    Routing Tasks

    • From the Routing Tasks part of the Route Through PRPs window, you must now route the cable or return to the Modify Route window.

      Route Cable

Routes the cable through the PRPs on the branch without having to connect to equipment.

      Back to Modify Cable

Discard any inputs and return to the Modify Cable window. See Modify Cable.
