Compare / Update / Link Attributes

The Compare / Update / Link Attribute facility is used to compare the attribute values of Tags data against data held in AVEVA Instrumentation, AVEVA Electrical and Design databases, and to update the Tags data with values from these databases.

  1. To access the facility click Compare / Update / Link in the AVEVA Integration group of the Manage tab.

  2. The Compare Update window (see below) and the Compare/Update - Actions tab are then displayed:

  3. From upper list in Source Selection group, select the data source with which Tags data is to be compared etc:

  4. If AVEVA Electrical, AVEVA Instrumentation or AVEVA P&ID is selected, the next step is to select an Electrical, Instrumentation or P&ID project via the Login option which is then displayed on the Compare/Update - Actions tab.

    If the Design Database, Schematic Database or Engineering Database option is selected, a connection is automatically established with the database of the current project.

  5. After a connection has been established, select the element source from the lower list in the Source Selection group.

    If attribute mappings and filters have previously been set up the compare process will then start automatically.

    If attribute mappings and/or filters have not been set up, the user will be prompted to set these up.

    The results of the process are displayed in the Compare/Update window:

When the Compare/Update window is open, an extra tab, Compare/Update - Actions, is displayed.

The tab has the following options:

Source Selection Group

Data source

Used to select the type of source database: AVEVA Electrical, AVEVA Instrumentation, AVEVA P&ID or Design, Schematic or Engineering.

Elements

Once the source database has been selected, used to select the type of elements that the compare/update process is to be the subject of.

Source Group

Login / Logoff

The Login option is used to select and connect to an AVEVA Electrical, AVEVA Instrumentation or P&ID database.

The option changes to Logoff once a connection is established.

Not displayed if the data source is a Design, Schematic or Engineering database.

Refresh

Used to repeat the comparison process.

Destination Group

Update Database

Used to display the Update Engineering Database window, which is used to view comparison process statistics and options, and to apply updates to Tags data.

Configuration Group

Accept All / Reject All

Used to accept or reject all changes all compared objects.

If the checkbox is checked, the label is set to Accept All. If the checkbox is unchecked, the label is set to Reject All.

Filters

Used to display the Filters window, which is used to set up filters.

Options

Used to display the Options window, which is used to set the types of objects that will be compared and how their attributes will be mapped.
