Evaluating Surface Hydrostatics

  • Last UpdatedJan 04, 2024

A limited range of hydrostatic particulars may be evaluated from the surface. Selecting DISPLAY \ HYDROSTATICS or launches the Calculate Hydrostatics dialog (Figure 3:125 below), into which the user enters the draft and trim values to use. If the surface is modelling a moulded form, the user can specify a shell thickness value (greater than zero) to be added. Selecting Calculate causes the hydrostatics to be displayed in the output window (Figure 3:126 below).

Figure 3:126. Hydrostatics evaluated from the surface are displayed in the output window.

Note that the values of the overall dimensions used in the calculation of the form coefficients (CB, CP, CWP ) are taken from the general particulars that have been specified for the design - they are not evaluated from the current surface geometry. The hydrostatics are evaluated using the current project faceting settings, which determines the accuracy of the results.

For additional information see Hydrostatics Dialog.
