Managed Holes

In addition to holes that are made in a room design wall element, the user can also make use of the hole management system that is available in standard design functionality. This will allow the user to create holes through items that the room designer does not have database write access to, such as a hull panel or wall plate.

It is beyond the scope of this document to fully describe the workflow of the hole management application, however, as with a penetrating component the catalogue needs to be set up in a specific way to enable a hole to be created via hole management and the user should refer to Creating a Room Design Specification - Room Design Administrator Guide for further information on how to do this.

Providing the catalogue is in place to allow a managed hole to be created, the process of doing this within the Furniture, Fixings and Fittings application is very simple to do.

  1. When in the Furniture, Fittings and Fixtures - Element Tasks window, the user needs to select an existing fitting type that supports managed holes.

  2. The user should now click Managed Hole located in the Create options on the Furniture, Fittings and Fixtures - Element Tasks window.

The application will now prompt the user to select a wall panel to create a hole in. Once selected the wall panel will be highlighted and the application will ask for final confirmation before completing the operation.

On confirmation the hole management system will have created a hole association that can be managed via the hole management system in the utilities menu.
