Curvature Control of Shell Stiffeners

A curved shell profile is normally bent in the workshop before it is mounted in the ship. If the profile is only slightly curved this step may not be necessary, the profile can be manufactured as a straight one and will then "fall into place" when mounted in the ship. The facility described here makes it possible for the yard to set up rules to decide if a shell stiffener should be stored as curved or straight on the profile data bank, SBH_PROFDB. It is applied in this storing process.
