Measure the Distance Between Posts

The maximum permitted distance between adjacent posts is defined by the Maximum Post Pitch setting in the defaults file. This distance is checked automatically when creating rows of posts (either implicitly, when creating platforms, or explicitly, as explained in Create Intermediate Posts), and is used to calculate the number of posts needed for a given length of handrail.

To create individual posts, the user may want to check that the positions at which the posts are placed, do not contravene the maximum pitch allowed. To measure the distance between any two existing posts (which need not form part of the same handrail run), select Utilities > Check Post Pitch and, when prompted, use the cursor to pick the two posts.
