This can be thought of as a blending together of opposite patch sides to produce the internal shape. This is the default method, as it tends to produce the best shaped patches for the majority of cases. Also, it can be used to produce prismatic patches when both opposing pairs of boundary curves are parallel. Only the D parameter is relevant to this smoothing function. Larger values will tend to produce a fuller shape. However, the function is quite sensitive to small changes in this parameter.
