From PDMS12.1, all textual information is represented as Unicode.

Unicode is a computing industry standard for the consistent encoding, representation and handling of text expressed in most of the world's writing systems. Developed in conjunction with the Universal Character Set standard and published in book form as The Unicode Standard, the latest version of Unicode consists of a repertoire of more than 109,000 characters covering 93 scripts. For further information, refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode.

The PML Internal Format for string data is Unicode UTF8 format.

This means that all PML string variables support Unicode values.

You can use Unicode characters in PML variable names, PML object form and gadget names, PML method and function names.

All PML language files should either be UTF8 format with a BOM present or else strictly ASCII 7-bit (decimal 32 to 127) format.
