Use plane patches

If this is checked, the software attempts to fit planar patches to regions where the active curves lie in a plane. Typical examples of this are the flat of side and flat of bottom of a traditional displacement vessel. Because planar patches are not B-Spline patches, there is not upper limit on the number of sides they can have. This means that planar patches can be used to form "T" junctions in the patch boundary network, which is a useful way to limit the propagation of patch boundaries. Planar patches are automatically grown to be as large as possible, so that a single planar patch may have many segments and intersections within it.

This option may be enabled or disabled for individual existing patches. Note that because B-Spline patches can only have 3 or 4 sides. This means that unchecking this option for an existing plane patch will produce a hole in the surface if it has more than 4 sides.
