Extra Inline Equipment Components - Connection Box Circ-Rect

The task of creating an HVAC Component is initiated from the HVAC Window.

1. Select Extra Plant Equipment in the Categories dropdown list.

2. Select Connection Box Circ- Rect in the Available Type dropdown list to display the Connection Box window:

   

   The Connection Box window default is a standard stock size, but can be changed by using one of the following methods:

   • Standard Stock Sizes

   • Non-Standard Stock Sizes (Special)

Standard Stock Sizes

3. In the Name(Ref) field, enter the name of the HVAC component.

   Note: The fields will be pre-populated with default dimensions. These dimensions are governed by the details defined in the HVAC Catalog.

4. To choose from the standard stock sizes available from the HVAC Catalog, in the Stock Size dropdown list, select the required dimension for the HVAC component.

5. Select the location of the circular entry on the rectangular box, using the Circ Entry dropdown list select: On SIDE of box, On TOP of box, On FRONT of box.

6. In the Key Direction specify the axis that should be used. Valid axes are E (East), N (North), U (Up), -E (negative East), -N (negative North) or -U (Negative Up).X, Y, Z, -X, -Y or -Z.

Non Standard Stock Sizes (Special)

7. To choose to use a non-standard stock piece of HVAC, from the Stock Sizes dropdown list, select Special.

   You are required to input the following dimensions:

   • Name(Ref)

   • Duct Diameter ‘A’

   • Duct width LA

   • Duct depth LB

   • Box Width

   • Box Depth

   • Box Length

   • A Offset

   • B Offset

   • Arrive Extension

   • Leave Extension

8. To visualize how the dimensions equate to the actual piece of HVAC, select Picture to display a detailed drawing for Extra Plant Equipment Catalog Element - Connection Box with ‘Circ Inlet - Rect Outlet’.

   Note: The fields will be pre-populated with default dimensions. These dimensions are governed by the details defined in the HVAC Catalog.

9. Select Transpose width/depth to exchange the Duct Width LA dimension with the Duct Depth LB dimension.

10. Select Transpose width/depth to exchange the Box Width dimension with the Box Depth dimension.

11. Specify a type of joint to use for the Arrjoint (Arrive Joint). For a detailed description, see Create / Modify HVAC Components.

12. After selecting the type of joint to use for the Arrjoint, enter the Leave Direction.

13. In the Key Direction specify the axis that should be used. Valid axes are E (East), N (North), U (Up), -E (negative East), -N (negative North) or -U (Negative Up).X, Y, Z, -X, -Y or -Z.

14. In the Connect list, select Connect or Unchanged:

    • Select Connect (default when Create is selected) - connects the piece of HVAC to the previous one.

    • Select Unchanged (default when Modify is selected) - positions the piece of HVAC at the co-ordinates 0.00.

    Note: Unchanged is usually used, when Modify is selected, it does not connect the piece of HVAC but positions it at 0.00, in effect in a floating position.

15. Select Defaults to reset all the fields back to when the Connection Box window was opened.

16. Select Fit to orientate the Connection Box to automatically match the outlet (p-leave) of the previous piece of HVAC to the inlet (p-arrive) of the next piece.

17. Select OK to create the Connection Box component and close the Connection Box Window. You will be returned to the HVAC Window.

18. Select Cancel to discard all the field changes and close the Connection Box window.
