Comparison Categories allow certain categories of difference to be ignored so that attention can be focused on areas of priority. You can define multiple Categories to be used with different Configurations. For example in the early stages of a project you may want to switch off reporting differences in most attributes, but as the data matures you want a full comparison to be run.

When a category of difference is switched off, the differences concerned no longer appear as comments or as red icons, and do not participate in the aggregation of differences reported up the hierarchy (the worst case report), also the relevant rows in the Compare Report lower Data panel are not shown.

To add a new Category, right click in the Categories node in the explorer tree and select Insert. Then enter a Name and use the check boxes to specify which categories of differences will be reported against which types of objects. You cannot switch off the reporting of unmatched main type objects such as pipelines and equipment. The Key Attributes column applies when matching by key attributes according to the rules. The Spec Attributes column applies to specification attributes PSPE, SPRE and CATR.

Earlier versions of Integrator had Comparison Categories stored separately. To import these into the configuration file, right click in the Categories node in the explorer tree and select Import User Defined Categories.
