Compatibility with Earlier Versions of Calc and SFOLDS

The present version of Calc is compatible with all previous versions of Calc and SFOLDS. If the earlier version used a GDS file as its geometry model, then the GDS file can be imported into the design, automatically translated into an equivalent faceted definition and subsequently embedded within the CALC file. However, it should be noted that in order to guarantee the correct volumes, , that the translation process will produce extra, possibly redundant, facet data. This means that the resulting data file will be larger and corresponding calculation times longer, than would have been the case had a facetted model, generated by the Surface/Compartment modules have been used.

Also other data, such as weight data, sounding devices, can be read straight in from an earlier version of Calc.
