Multi Windows and Layers

Surface is a multi-window system.
Create a new window

Select the new graphics window icon
.
The new window will appear on the screen, use the standard window controls to drag the window to the required position on the display and/or re-size it.

Assign a section view to this window by moving the cursor to the window then use the STERN (S) menu.
Generate section intersections

Access the Model Cuts dialog by either:

Using the pulldown menu LINE/MODEL CUTS...

Selecting the icon,

Select Sections.
-
Enter the values 11, 20.5 & 0.5, in the From, To and Inc boxes, respectively.

Select Current Envelope.
-
Select Generate.
The graphics windows show the surface patches and the sections.

We can now use the layer facilities in Surface to control which entities are displayed in the windows. Right-click to select the first section in the tree list with the shift key held down, then select the last section.
The sections in the list become highlighted.

Right-click to display the pop-up menu and select MODIFY LAYERS.

Type 2 in the Layers box.

Select OK.
This moves all sections to layer 2.

For each of the windows, we can now select which layers are displayed. On the left hand graphics window, select the LAYERS pulldown.

Select the ALL button in the Layers Off panel.
This turns off the display of all layers.

Select 1.

Select OK.
The window is automatically redrawn with only the patches shown.

Repeat this for the right hand window, except select 2 to turn it on.
This window now only shows the desired sections.
