Change the Direction of Stair/Ladder Handrails

By default, the short stubs of rail at the top and (in some cases) bottom of stairs and ladders are directed to the left and right by the inclusion of circular toruses as connecting joints. This assumes that the stair/ladder rails will be connected to platform handrails which are perpendicular to the direction of the stair/ladder.

If the user wishes to connect the stair/ladder rails to handrails which run in the same direction as the stair/ladder, the user can change each of these joints from a torus to a cylinder, refer to the following diagram:

To make this change:

  1. Select Modify > Stair Top Joint > Torus to Cylinder.

  2. When prompted, pick the torus that is to be changed.

To reverse the change:

  1. Select Modify > Stair Top Joint > Cylinder to Torus.

  2. When prompted, pick the cylinder that is to be changed.
