MDS Upgrade in the Design Module

e MDS12.0.SP5 version requires Project Upgrade in the MDS Design Application for ATTA & PLAT types.

The /MDS and /MDF specifications held in the MDS/CATA database in the MDS116 and MDS12 versions are now NOT compliant with each other. For example, the new MDS STDS SPREF attributes may now have different DBREFS in the two versions of the MDS/CATA databases.

Also the UDA :MDSMATREF has been removed from the ATTA element in MDS12 and replaced by the new AVEVA PDMS standard attribute MATREF.

Objective

• To generate an Upgrade macro file in an existing 11.6 project currently using the MDS application.

• The Upgrade macro file contains the names of all the current MDS ATTA and PLAT element types in the current MDB along with the attribute values for the SPREF and the UDA :MDSMATREF for these element types.

  Note: In the MDS12 the UDA :MDSMATREF has been replaced by the AVEVA PDMS standard attribute MATREF at all ATTA element types.

• The UDA :MDSMATREF still applies to all MDS PLAT element types in the MDS12.

  Important: Only run the generated Upgrade macro file in an already Upgraded 12 version of the project. This is an existing 11.6 project version which has already been Upgraded to a 12 project version via the standard AVEVA PLANT 12 Upgrade procedure for an existing 11.6 project. Plus the existing 11.6 project running MDS has been Upgraded via the standard AVEVA MDS12 Defaults Upgrade utility found in the PARAGON module.
