Fitting Section Data

In the normal process of creating an initial Lines design, the user would fit all required boundary curves before proceeding to the next step of fitting the sections.

Figure 3:18. Fairing Dialog.

Before interpolating any orthogonal curves (or diagonals) whether individually or for a given range, the user must first specify what existing orthogonal data is going to be interpolated from. This can be one or more of Sections, Waterlines or Buttocks depending on the curves being interpolated, or for the case of the initial sections that have been imported, Design.

Specify data

  1. Select the fairing icon to bring up the Fairing dialog.

  2. Select the Design option in the Fairing dialog.

  3. Select the user parameters icon, then click the Station Radio button which can be found on the Data Set page, to specify that X values are now assumed to be stations.

  4. Select OK to accept.

The user has two options when fitting the sections from the design data (or in later stages of the fairing when fitting any further orthogonal curves). Either to interpolate, manually fit and accept individual curves or to fit and accept a range of curves in one go. Both options are available from the Fairing dialog.
