Used to set up the default faceter parameters for the design, it enables consistent faceting of the design for viewing. Individual faceter parameters can be set for individual objects see Faceting Parameters, which is accessed via the Full Tree View pop-up menu item, Faceting....

There are four input parameters:

The Max Subdivision Level (>=0) specify to what extent the basic faceting grid may be subdivided.

Surface Tolerance is the gap between an approximating facet and the true mathematical surface. This value is entered in meters.

The most sensitive (and thus generally the governing) parameter is Normal Tolerance (>=0) which should be used with care to avoid the generation of excessive numbers of facets. Normal Tolerance (>=0) defines the maximum angle between the surface normals at the vertices of an individual facet. For most of the designs values in range of 10-30 are sufficient.

The Aspect Ratio (>=1) controls triangular facets, ensuring the ratio of height over base width does not exceed the value entered.

On clicking Apply, all elements which have not had individual parameters set are refaceted. If the Refacet all elements with new default settings option is selected, then all elements are refaceted and individual parameters are set to the defaults.

If the Activate compensation for calculations based on facets checkbox is selected, then compensation is made for loss of volume and surface area due to such calculations being made on faceted volumes, The compensation also takes effect on calculations made in Hydrostatics.
