The following details the user modified data.
Support Application Defaults
The MDS designer can modify some of the defaults using the MDS Application Defaults form. To access this form select Settings then MDS Defaults then Application from the MDS main menu bar.
All values entered into this form are always displayed in the current format for distance units set inside AVEVA Plant/Marine.
Note: General user need to be a member of DESADMIN team in order to use MDS Application Defaults form.
Note: Any changes made here are temporary, that means, they apply only to the current session. To make the changes to the defaults permanent, use the applicable administration forms.

The items on this form are self explanatory except for Flange Gaps and Compensating Plates.
Flange Gaps
This Flange Gaps function only works in ‘creation by cursor’ mode. The setting for this functionality is available by pressing the Flange Gaps button. This will display the following form:

Note: ID1 is the first member identified and ID2 is the second member identified (if applicable). This can make a significant difference to the structure as shown in the examples below. The positioning of the framework legs can be used with either the identified sections or gensecs geometry or the sections or gensecs origin.
The following examples show the effect of selecting the members in different orders.
Both flange gaps set to off (ID1 = off, ID2 = off):

Here, ID1 and ID2 have the same settings but have been selected in different orders, resulting in a mirrored structure in both cases:
|
Left first, ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Outside
|
Right first, ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Outside
|
|
Left first, ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Off
|
Right first, ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Off

Compensating Plates
Pressing the Compensation Options button allows the user to view the Compensating Plate options. Refer to MDS Compensating Plates for further information.
