Interactive Internal surface editing

Interactive editing provides you with the ability to alter the geometry of a surface (as described above through sections defined at various longitudinal locations) within a graphical view.

The interactive process can be started from the Geometry page of the Internal Surface Editor dialog by selecting Interactive and then clicking Start. Alternatively via the command line by typing the command Definition Edit.

Note:
The current type of internal selected in Internal Surface Editor dialog has no affect when picking an internal for interactive editing, any type can be selected.

Having selected the internal surface, the system will display an untrimmed version of the surface itself, sheer plane (dotted lines), sheer curve (defined as polyline between nodes), camber plane, camber curve and dimensions. The dimensions can be interactively changed by dragging or if you double-click on the dimensions then exact numbers can be entered.

When the mouse pointer is moved on top of the sheer or camber curve the system will change the colour of the curve and display the insertion point. If at this stage you click one of the following keys "i", "I" or INSERT, the new node will be inserted into the curve. If you clicked insert while the mouse pointer is over a sheer node, the system will insert new camber branch at this point.

The system allows any number of camber curves along the length of the deck or longitudinal bulkhead.

To delete a camber curve you should move the mouse pointer over corresponding sheer node and click "d", "D" or DELETE. The same way sheer nodes can be deleted.

When the mouse pointer is moved on top of the dimension line, the line colour will change colour, indicating that interactive change is possible.

The interactive process is completed by clicking Apply or typing the command Definition Apply. At this stage the system will generate the final shape of the surface and trim it to the envelope. Alternatively, if the Discard button or the command Definition Discard is clicked, the changes will be ignored and the surface will revert to its original shape prior to editing starting.
