Create Ceiling

  1. To create a Ceiling Element, select Ceilings on the Main Detailing Tasks window to display the Main Ceiling Tasks window.

    The Main Ceiling Tasks window allows the user to select an existing Ceiling displayed in the grid control at the top of the window and access the Modify and Delete tasks for the selected Ceiling. The user can also access the Create task to create a new Ceiling.

    Select Ceiling

    Select a Ceiling from the list in the grid control.

    Create

    Ceiling

    Displays the Create Ceiling window.

    Modify

    Ceiling Definition

    Displays the Modify Ceiling window.

    Ceiling Geometry

    Displays the Modify Ceiling Geometry window.

    Delete

    Delete Ceiling

    Displays a Confirm message box for deleting a Ceiling selected from the grid control. Selecting the YES option deletes the Ceiling element and all of its members from the database.

  2. To create a new Ceiling, select the BLEVEL or ROOM in the Room Design Navigator to which the new Ceiling element is to be added.

  3. Then, select Create > Ceiling on of the Main Ceiling Tasks window to display the Create Ceiling window.

    The Create Ceiling window allows the user to set the Ceiling attributes, location and geometry. Options are given for either creating a Ceiling Grid or a Physical Ceiling.

    Basic Attributes

    Set the Name, Description, Function and Number of the Ceiling as appropriate.

Location

The numeric inputs allow the user to manipulate the orientation of the new Ceiling.

Angle from Y axis

Set angle using the spin box.

Angle from horizontal

Set angle using the spin box.

Ceiling height

Defaults to the height of the owning element. Enter a different value for the height of the Ceiling if required.

Ceiling Offset

Allows the user to graphically pick the position of origin of the new Ceiling.

         X

Populated on picking a position or enter a value for X.

        Y

Populated on picking a position or enter a value for Y.

Design Criteria

Colour Schema and Fire rating are set in this panel.

Defaults

Ceiling Type and Ceiling Code defaults are set in this panel.

Geometry

Void height

Enter a value for the height of the Ceiling Volume.

Use owning ELEMENT geometry

Select checkbox to inherit the Owner’s geometry.

Define ceiling geometry

Displays the Define Ceiling Boundary window which allows the user to define the Ceiling geometry manually.

Create options

Create ceiling grid

Selecting the checkbox allows the creation of a Ceiling Grid as well as the new Ceiling element.

Create Physical Ceiling

Selecting the checkbox allows the creation of a panel with the same thickness as the defined Ceiling Void, and a Ceiling Grid will not be created.

Create Ceiling

Adds a new Ceiling (CEILIN) element in the database hierarchy and displays the Modify Ceiling window.

Back to main ceiling tasks

Displays the Main Ceiling Tasks window.

Return to main tasks

Displays the Main Detailing Tasks window.

Define Ceiling Boundary

  • Selecting Define ceiling geometry on the Create Ceiling window displays the Define Ceiling Boundary window.

    The Define Ceiling Boundary window allows the user to select a shape and set the dimensions and origin point of the Ceiling.

Shapes

Select a Ceiling shape from the drop-down list.

Dimensions

Enter the required dimensions for the selected Ceiling shape in the appropriate boxes.

Origin

Origin point

Select an origin point from the spin box.

Derive Methods

Pick Corner Points

Allows the user to graphically pick the corner points.

Define Ceiling Boundary

Applies the Ceiling boundary definition.

Return

Returns the user to the Create Ceiling window.
