The figure below shows an example of a settings drawing which can be used as a source for characters/symbols in a hull text.
One settings drawing can have many views. Each view must consist of a single subview with one or more components. The components represent:
-
Geometry of a character or symbol (required)
-
The lower point of the geometry (optional)
-
The upper point of the geometry (optional)
-
The reference point (optional)
The lower and upper points define the width and height measure of the character/symbol. If not set explicitly, width and height measures are resolved automatically based on the circumscribed rectangle of the geometry of each character/symbol.
If the reference point is not explicitly set, it is defined as the centre of gravity of the circumscribed rectangle of each character/symbol.
Components for lower, upper and reference points must have their names defined as follows for proper identification:
-
L – lower point
-
U – upper point
-
M – reference point
All view names must be unique within a settings drawing. If a settings drawing is to be regarded as a font by the hull mark function (that means, with a possibility to key-in hull text characters), the respective ASCII numbers must be used for the view names.
