Inclining Experiment

The basic function of this calculation module is the assembly of data collected during an inclining experiment, undertaking the relevant simple calculations, and the presentation of such in a report format.

Although this is largely a free-standing activity within Calc, this task requires that there has been the input of a hull geometry model that represents the current vessel, particularly of the tank arrangement.

Selecting the Miscellaneous - Inclining Experiment icon, and then the Edit command in the sub-menu, opens the Inclining Experiment dialog. This dialog uses what are termed tab sheets, (that is a dialog containing overlapped sheets), and in order to access a particular sheet, (that means, to bring it to the front of the dialog), click one of the tabs at the top of the dialog. By default, on opening the Description sheet is selected, the other available sheets in the dialog are Drafts, Pendulums, Readings, Weights to Add, Weights to Come Off, and Tanks.

It should be noted that in the tab sheets that the OK and Cancel buttons are common to all sheets in the set and, for example, clicking the OK button signifies that the data has been entered or edited on all sheets and not just on the sheet that is on the display when the button is clicked. Data can be input on any of the sheets and in any order, noting that the Inclining Experiment report is not created until you selects Calculate, rather than Edit, in the sub-menu.
