Parts List Template

TWhen an Assembly drawing is generated, the operator selects a Parts List Template on which to base the style and content of the external parts list documents. The Assembly Drawing application has been designed to allow the configuration of the style and content by using a Symbolic Template (database element SYTM) below a Label Library.

In reality it will be the Label Library that is selected as being the Template for the Parts List production. The structure used is as shown below.

The system finds the LALB by using a search rule as defined by the configuration file setting partsListRule, which in the example is set to "WITH SPPURPOSE EQ 'ASPLST'". The configuration file and it settings are discussed later in this document.

Some of the LALB attributes are important as they must be set for the application to run successfully, and are described as follows;

SpPurp ASPLST

This is set so that the application can find it

Function 'Standard Parts List PL-001’

This is used for by the main application form to provide the 'Parts List Type' selection options.

The fact that the Function attribute is used is defined by the configuration file setting partsListDesc, which you can change as required.

When the application is activated and a Parts List produced, the system will utilize the symbolic templates for the style and content of the different external reports and produce the relevant external files.

The system calls the object ASSYPARTSLIST which carries out this operation. If you wish for a different style and content for the external reports, you can either modify the supplied templates or create your own new ones. As long as you have set the configuration file to reflect the relevant attribute and have set the attribute values as discussed above, the application will find any new ones and add them to the relevant form option list.

The Parts List report is made up of two sections, the Assembly Properties and the Parts themselves.

Each of these sections is configured using the SYTM elements that exist below the Label Library.
