Drawing-based Part List Tansfer

Drawing data can be transferred from the Outfitting Draft and Marine Drafting modules of AVEVA Marine to AVEVA ERM as part lists. When a drawing is transferred to AVEVA ERM, all the elements available in the drawing are transferred and stored in AVEVA ERM as part lists. Simultaneously, an assembly is created in the design application with the same elements.

A drawing can be transferred from any level. This enables you to break down complex piping and fabricate systems into simpler drawings that are clearer and more understandable. Further, when you transfer a drawing, the association between the drawing and the model is always maintained in both AVEVA Marine and AVEVA ERM. As a result, the part list elements are never duplicated. Also, after importing the drawing into AVEVA ERM, an element that previously belonged to a ZONE is rearranged to belong to the drawing in AVEVA ERM. This ensures that the drawing is always treated as the owner of the elements and AVEVA ERM does not hold duplicate part list elements.

As an assembly is automatically created after the successful transfer of the drawing part list to AVEVA ERM, you can directly start working on assembly planning for the elements in the drawing. For more information about assembly planning, see AVEVA ERM Planning and Assembly Planning.

Through the drawing-based part list transfer, an element is published only once to AVEVA ERM. If an element is part of multiple drawings, the drawing that is published first is marked as the owner of the element in AVEVA ERM. For example, if you are publishing Drawing 2 that contains an element that is part of Drawing 1 and is already published to AVEVA ERM as part of Drawing 1, then the element is not published again as part of Drawing 2. In such cases, the element appears grayed out and the tool tip mentions that the element is already part of Drawing 1 and therefore cannot be published again.

Drawing 1 is marked as the owner of the element in AVEVA ERM. Similarly, you cannot publish multiple drawings that contain one or more elements in common at the same time; you must publish the drawing that should be the owner of the element(s) first and then publish the remaining drawings.

The following image provides an example of a drawing that can be published to AVEVA ERM.

Note: For the Marine Drafting module, only outfitting part lists can be transferred through the drawing-based transfer. The transfer of hull unit part lists is currently not supported for this module.
