Powering Calculation

A standard powering calculation consists of the following calculations/output:

  • Condition independent input data (that means, unrelated to any particular condition), for example, main particulars data, appendage data and propeller parameters.

  • Optimum propeller data - results of the propeller design process, with a list of resulting parameters (for example, diameter, pitch ratio) followed by a table of

    J

    Advance Coefficient

    KT

    Thrust Coefficient

    KQ

    Torque Coefficient

    Propeller efficiency

    Speed Ratio

For each condition in turn:

  • Condition specific input data, for example, draught aft, draught fwd, resistance method chosen.

  • Table of ship scale resistance data - V, Fn, Rn, CF, CF x k, CR, Ca, CT and CircC.

  • Table of ship powering characteristics - V, PE, THDF, WFT, , , QPC, PS (or PD) and RPM.
