Create Cableway Branch

All the tasks that are associated with the CableWay Branch are initiated from the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window which acts as a task hub.
The CableWay Branch Create Tasks window is automatically displayed once a CableWay element is created or when multiple branches are created under a single CableWay element.

To create multiple branches, select Create > Cableway Branch from the Cabling System toolbar to display the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window:

The Current Element is displayed in the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window.

Enter a name in the Branch Name window.
Attributes
The Attributes part of the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window is used to define the attributes of the branch element.

Beta Angle |
Displays the angle of rotation of the cableway. |

Displays the bend radius applied to the cableway, once it has been created and dressed with material. |

Specifies the direction of the open side of the cableway once it is dressed with material. |

Justification |
User can select the justification from the pull-down menu. |
|
Cable Excess (%) |
Specifics how much allowance for sagging (when the cable is supported on the cableway) is required. |

Maximum Fill (%), |
Specifies the maximum fill level allows on the cableway, (the software automatically calculates this value based on the cross sectional area). |

Note: If the maximum fill is set below the current fill level, then the following warning will appear. After reading the warning select OK to continue.

Current Fill Level (%) |
Displays the current fill level of the cableway. |

Interference |
|
|
Allows you to input the interference class. |
|
|
Cable Route Rule |
Specifies the rule to be used, to control the type of cable that can be routed along the cableway, such as IClass EQ POWER. |

Standard Iclass |
Select from the dropdown menu the type of cable to be routed through the cableway. Input its own values or select Load, to load interference values from a database. |
Select Volume Size
The Select Volume Size part of the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window specifies the volume size the cableway branch will occupy in the design model.

In the Shape dropdown menu, select from either Rectangular or Circular.

In Width, enter the width of the cableway branch.

In Height, enter the height of the cableway branch.
Note: You will be prompted to enter different dimensions depending upon the shape selected.
Connections
The Connections part of the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window defines the way that the coordinates of the CableWay Branch Head and Tail are derived. These can be changed by selecting from a choice of options in the Connect From: dropdown menu and the Branch Head and Branch Tail part of the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window.
Both the Branch Head and Tail parts of the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window perform the same function for both the branch head and tail. For the purposes of this user guide, only the Branch Head is explained here.

X0 Y0 Z0 - (default) positions the branch head at the frame and offsets wrt to the world axes 0,0,0 (origin).

Select
to display the Offset By fields which allows you to enter offset values for the Branch Head.

Select
again to return to the explicit position text fields.

Head of Cableway Branch - Position the Branch Head at the head of an existing cableway branch. You will be prompted to Pick CWBRAN in the 3D View at the position of the existing branch head.

Tail of Cableway Branch - Position the Branch Head at the tail of an existing cableway branch. You will be prompted to Pick CWBRAN in the 3D View at the position of the existing cableway branch tail.

Branch Off - Position the Branch Head at a selected point on an existing branch. You will be prompted to Pick on the segment from which the branch should connect: to identify the segment.

Route Attachment Point - Position the branch head at the position of a selected route attachment point. You will be prompted to Pick RTTA in the 3D View.
Copy Tail - The coordinates of the tail are copied and these are populated in the Branch Head part of the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window.
Pick Head Position - You will be prompted to Pick to define position (Snap) Snap: in the 3D View. Where you click will be used as the position for the new cableway branch head.

To lock the position of the cableway branch head, select the Lock checkboxes.
Note: Moving the Cableway Branch a specified distance in a particular direction can be done by entering the required co-ordinate values and using the Lock boxes on the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window before creating the Branch. Alternatively, if the Cableway Branch has been created, you can select the Branch and move it into the desired position using the Model Editor. For more information, refer to the Graphical Manipulation User Guide.

To constrain the cableway to an orthogonal route, select the Create Orthogonal Route checkbox.

Define the direction that the route takes orthogonally, from the Direction Sequence dropdown menu select the direction.
Note: The Direction Sequence and the Open Direction are compatible (for example, an Open Direction of U could be invalid if the Direction of Sequence was set to U-N-E or U-E-N).

Select Create CableWay Branch to create a new cableway branch element in the Design database and close the CableWay Branch Create Tasks window. The created Cableway Branch is shown in the 3D view automatically routed along an orthogonal path connecting the Head and Tail positions. The Branch Tasks window is automatically displayed.
