Unprotected Openings

Calc uses the unprotected openings defined in this dialog when performing loading calculations, deterministic calculations and probabilistic calculations. An unprotected opening is one into which progressive flooding will occur when it goes below the waterline.

The location of each unprotected opening is given by x, y and z co-ordinates (X val, Y val and Z val respectively, measured relative to the vessel's origin in meters or feet).

The compartment to which a unprotected opening is associated, should be selected from the drop-down list in the 'Comp ID' column.

For the effect of downflooding into the specified compartment to be realised, the Allow Stepped GZ check box on the Ship Data/Stability dialog must be ticked.

Note:
An unprotected opening leading to a compartment that is damaged is ignored.
