The Category filter allows you to view compartments assigned to the selected category.
The main body of the dialog is made up of a grid containing 12 columns. The first 3 columns display the ID, compartment name and capacity of all the compartments. Note that on scrolling to the right, to access the rest of the columns, the ID column is always displayed. The fourth column, Contents, contains a drop down list of the available contents for loading. The FSM and It columns are used to specify the manner in which to treat the free surface of a liquid. You have 5 options available which are:
-
Fixed:
Entering the transverse second moment of area in the It column, which remains constant throughout the heeling range. If the value is zero and the contents are liquid, then the free surface will be calculated in the upright condition with the specified contents in the compartment. -
S'Mom:
This indicates the shift moment approach is to be used, considering the liquid's true heeling moment by ascertaining the shifting of the liquid at each heel angle. This calculation procedure obviously takes longer than the other options and is not considered by all regulatory bodies. -
Max FSM:
Some authorities state that not-withstanding the level of liquid in the compartment, the maximum free-surface moment must be used. This option finds the maximum free-surface moment in the upright condition, by testing at varying liquid levels. -
Given:
The transverse second moment of area is entered in the It column. This remains constant throughout the heeling range. Note that this option is similar to the Fixed option, but the program will always use the specified It value, even if this is zero. -
50%:
Calculated with 50% of the compartment full at upright condition, the resulting value will be used for all angles of heel.
Columns 7 to 11 allow you to specify the amount of cargo in each compartment and provide for alternative approaches. The loading can be input by weight, percentage full, volume, ullage or sounding. Input via weight, will automatically update percentage full and volume and vice versa when inputting via percentage full or volume. Ullage and sounding values are only updated when either of them is used for inputting the loading; the other values will also update automatically. Please note that the content type must be selected before loading the compartment.
The last column, Cat, displays the category ID assigned to the compartment.
