Manoeuvring Calculations Characteristics

The data required by Hydro when calculating manoeuvring characteristics can be kept to a minimum to allow the ship designer to use the program in the early design stages. It consists of main ship particulars, rudder particulars and propeller data. The bilge keel length and width, transverse metacentric height and vertical center of gravity are also needed for naval ship types. If you have specific information on the hydrodynamic derivatives, for example, from model tests, then these can be used in the manoeuvring equations, otherwise one of two default sets must be used depending on whether the vessel is Naval or Merchant.

The program can be used within certain limits, as defined in Screen Based Reference Guide, and the program is able to ensure that the input data is within these limits.
