This section describes the application for the calculation of areas for painting. The system can be executed either in batch mode or in interactive mode. In batch mode the input is given by the user explicitly in an input scheme and in interactive mode the same input is created interactively.

In both cases the actual area calculations are performed in a separate batch program. This program reads input in a Interactive Language (TIL) format. The result is a listing of the calculated areas with an option to produce a detailed list of the areas of different parts. The result is also stored in a Painting Area Data Base (in this document referred to by PADB).
