Copy Cableway Elements

As an design aid, you can (if necessary) copy existing zones, cableways, cableway branch, and cableway with cables along with their associated sub elements where applicable.

  1. To copy any of these elements, select Create > Copy > Cableway Elements, from the main menu bar to display the Copy Cableway Elements window.

    The Copy Cableway Element window has a common layout irrespective of the element selected to be copied. The only difference being the type of element to be copied, which populates parts of the Copy Cableway Element window.

  2. Choose which element is to be copied. From the Select Options part of the Copy Cableway Elements window, select the element to be copied.

    • Zone and its associated sub elements

    • Cableway

    • Cableway Branch

    • Cableway with Cables and its associated sub elements

      Note: The inputs required for Copy Cableway Elements window is dependent upon the element selected.

  3. Make sure that the element to be copied is highlighted in the Design Explorer. With the element highlighted in the Design Explorer, select CE from the Copy Cableway Elements to identify the element as the CE.

  4. From the Select Elements part of the Copy Cableway Elements window, input a name for the new element.

    Note: Autoname Elements is only available with Zone and Cableway and Cables elements. Select Autoname to apply the autonaming rules, the software automatically creates a new name for the element.

  5. In the Number of Copies, enter the number of copies required.

    Note: Autoname is only available with Zone and Cableway and Cables elements. Select the Autoname Elements checkbox to apply the autonaming rules, the software automatically creates a new name for the element.

    The Offset part of the Copy Cableway Elements window allows you to position the copied element(s) at an offset to a selected element.

    Note: Right-click within the Offset pane but outside of the text field displays a pop-up menu which allows the user to change how the offsets are displayed.

    • Format XYZ

    • Format Grid

  6. Set the distance for the offset, this can be done in three ways:

  7. Input Frame numbers and the distance in the coordinate boxes, if required input the coordinates in the wrt box, select one or all of the Lock checkboxes to fix the current coordinate along the E, N, or UX,Y or Z axis.

    Note: X (East), Y (North), Z (Up), -X (negative East), -Y (negative North) or -Z (negative Up).

  8. Alternatively, select to display the Offset By fields which allows you to enter offset values for the element to be copied.

  9. Select again to return to the explicit position text fields.

  10. Alternatively, from the Copy Cableway Elements window, select Pick Offset, in the 3D view. You are prompted to Please pick an Element to define offset (Snap) Snap: select to identify the element.

  11. Select Copy, the new element is created in the design explorer and a message is displayed to confirm the Copy was successful. Select OK to close the message window.

    Note: When copying connected cables, the newly created copies of the cables will not have associations with equipment.
