Creating Complex Containers

Initial Design Hydrostatics requires only the dimensions, separations, weights (empty & full) and VCG values. Therefore, in general, the basic method of creating containers described above is adequate for use within AVEVA Marine.
However, if you want to create a more realistic container, for example, for use in a photo-realistic rendered view, then one can be created.
You must firstly create a patch using primitives, Boolean operations, This can then be used as the basis of a container type, by either
-
Issuing the command
Container name Create Patch name long_sep trans_sep vert_sep
-
Clicking on the Patch button on the Containers dialog and selecting the patch in the active graphics view, or
-
Dragging the patch from the tree control onto the i button.
Note:
The last two methods will not set any separation values. These should be entered via the grid in the normal way. This will create a container entity from a copy of the surface. The dimensions of the container are obtained directly from the patch dimensions, but these may be changed by you, if required.
This container may now be used in the usual way for bay definition generation.
