The rudder is treated as a lifting surface element. The modelling of the rudder includes
the slope of the normal force coefficient
, inflow velocity, inflow angle and the interaction between hull, propeller and rudder.
The mathematical model considered for the rudder is the same as for merchant ship
types (see Modelling of Rudder - Handling), however, for naval vessels, the following differences apply to the mathematical
representation:

You have the option to select a conventional, Becker or Schilling type rudder.

in equation can be estimated from the experimental data of Matsumoto et al, Ref. [] for a naval vessel.
